Cost per puff: which disposable vape is actually the best value?

Two devices sit next to each other. One is €24.99, the other €35.00. Most people take the cheaper one, and most people are wrong — because the thing you are actually buying is puffs, not plastic.

The spread is more than three to one. The cheapest device on the receipt, the Duke at €24.99, sits in the middle of the value table. The best value costs ten euros more.
What the puff number does not tell you
Every puff rating on every brand is measured on a machine taking short, even draws in a lab. Nobody vapes like that. In real use you should expect somewhere between half and two thirds of the printed figure.
That sounds like a reason to ignore the number. It is not — because every manufacturer is measured the same way, so the ratios survive even though the absolute figures do not. A device rated at twice the puffs really will last roughly twice as long. Use the rating to rank devices against each other, never as a promise of hours.
The filter that beats price: does it recharge?
Above roughly 20,000 puffs, a device without a USB-C rechargeable battery cannot deliver its own rating. The battery dies before the liquid does. You feel it as a draw that gets weaker and warmer through the last third, and you paid for thousands of puffs you will never take.
This is why a 45,000-puff device with a rechargeable housing beats a 45,000-puff device without one by a margin no price difference can close. Everything in our rechargeable range is filtered on exactly this.
The filter nobody calculates: flavour fatigue
Cost per puff assumes you take every puff. In practice, the single most common way to waste money on a large disposable is to get bored of the flavour at 60% and leave it in a drawer.
That is the real argument for a multi-flavour device: not that four tanks are exciting, but that they stop a half-full device from being abandoned. If you have ever bought the same flavour six times in a row and never tired of it, ignore this paragraph and buy the biggest single-flavour device you can find — you will genuinely finish it.
So what should you actually buy?
- You know your flavour and you vape a lot. Biggest rechargeable single-flavour device in the high-capacity range. Lowest cost per puff you will get.
- You get bored of flavours. A multi-tank device. The per-puff number is already the best in the table, and you will actually reach the end of it.
- You are trying a flavour for the first time. Take the smallest device that carries it. Committing two months to a taste you have not tried is the most expensive mistake on this page, whatever the maths says.
